Question:
Hi, my dog came from a european country via rescue and has been diagnosed with heartworm. The dog is currently undergoing treatment (2 injections, one each month to kill the adult heartworms). I've then been told that I need to buy heartgard plus and administer this for a period of 6 months (one tablet per month) to get rid of any 'babies' but I notice that you mentioned in another comment that this is a preventative and can accelerate the heartworm growing.... please advise as this was a vet in UK who told me to do this and I need to know if it's correct? Does heartgard plus kill the larvae or babies?
Answer:
It would be best to consult a vet and place your order accordingly.
