Preventic is a medicated tick collar that controls a wide range of ticks on dogs. The active ingredient, Amitraz, works on contact, paralyzing the tick’s mouthparts and prevents them from attaching and feeding.
Preventic protects your dogs against ticks including, but not limited to, Indigenous ticks (Ixodes cornatus), bush ticks (HaemathysalisIongicornis), cattle ticks (Boophilusmicroplus), brown dog ticks (Rhipicephalus sanguineus) and deadly paralysis ticks (Ixodes holocyclus).

Is Preventic suitable for my dog?
Preventic tick collars are suitable for dogs over 16 weeks of age, with no weight restrictions. It is recommended you contact your vet before using the collar on sick, elderly or pregnant animals. Do not use on cats.
What are the side effects of Preventic?
Side effects from accidental ingestion by chewing on the collar include vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, and weakness. If you suspect your dog has chewed the collar, contact your vet immediately.
What precautions must be taken?
For canine use only – do not use on pets or other animals.
Do not allow children to handle the collar.
Do not allow the dog to chew the collar.
Cut off and dispose of any excess length safely.
Do not use on dogs less than 16 weeks of age.
How effective is Preventic (Amitraz)?
Preventic begins to kill ticks within 24 hours and continues working while the collar is worn. Although the collar is resistant to normal wetting such as rainfall, it is recommended to remove the collar for swimming and bathing to retain maximum effectiveness.
As environmental conditions vary, it may be necessary to replace the collar more frequently.
